This article guides you through setup of the self check-in feature for families to record "Today's Attendance" through the SimplyPortal app (Elite and Complete subscriptions).

Before You Start
"Today's Attendance" will display for all families, regardless of subscription. This does not need to be configured.
The ability for families to Check-in to today's attendance is available for Elite and Complete Subscriptions and must be configured (see below).
You must have your address entered in Company Information. Families need to allow location settings in the app. Step One: Enable Check-in
1. Go to Configuration → Fee Calculation Templates.
2. Click on the name of the Fee Calculation Template and TICK the box "Allow Families to Self Check-in via the SimplyPortal app".
3. Click "Save Changes".
Repeat for each Fee Calculation Template required. Step Two: Configuration of Levels
No further configuration is needed to ALLOW self check-in for all Class Assessment Levels. This is automatically enabled when the Fee Calculation Template allows check-in.
To BLOCK self check-in for certain levels covered by the configured Fee Calculation Template:
1. Go to Configuration → Class Assessment Levels and click on the level.
2. TICK the box "Block Families from Self Check-in via the SimplyPortal app for this Level".
3. Click "Modify Level" to save.
Repeat for each Class Assessment Level to be BLOCKED from self check-in. How does Self Check-in work?
Today's Attendance Widget
This appears on the SimplyPortal app dashboard / home page for all families regardless of subscription plan or configured check-in settings. Any attendances that start (and have not ended) within the next 2 hours will display.
Self Check-in
When enabled, families are able to self check-in to "Today's Attendance". They must be within 1km of the centre and must have allowed location settings.
Attendance Record
When a family checks-in, the student's attendance is automatically recorded. No further action is required by staff.
