How can Families unsubscribe or opt-out from Emails

You can allow your Families to opt-out or unsubscribe from email communications by including an Unsubscribe Link merge field in your email communications.


Important: This feature will unsubscribe a family from receiving ALL email from your centre, including transactional or alert emails (payment receipts, attendance reminders, emergency venue closure notices).


There are 3 different merge fields that you can use, depending on the use case and the type of email template you are using.  The tags, with an example of the text displayed, are:


  1. %%UNSUBSCRIBEURL%%
    eg: https://site.family-portal.com.au/public/unsubscribe/<randomtextstring>
    This tag can be very long, and is designed for use in custom HTML email messages. Use this one with caution.

  2. %%UNSUBSCRIBEFULLLINK%%
    eg: You can unsubscribe from messages sent by SimplySwim Academy here.

  3. %%UNSUBSCRIBESHORTLINK%%
    eg: Unsubscribe



We recommend using the %%UNSUBSCRIBESHORTLINK%% tag and including it at the bottom of your email content / in your footer.


When a Family clicks the unsubscribe link in an email sent to them they are directed to a confirmation page, like the one shown below.  The Family then needs to click the "Yes, Unsubscribe" button for the process to be completed.



Once processed, the Email address on the Family is marked as "Do Not Send" and a note is added to the Family Communication indicating the action.
