Overview
SimplySwim's Inventory and Stock Management system manages saleable and non-saleable items for inventory control, stock on-hand calculations, stock movement and cost pricing.
This article details Step 3 in the process - configuring Inventory Items.
Inventory Items are the saleable items in your system, with stock counts and pricing management.
Non-Inventory Items are also able to be recorded for any items not for sale but that you might want to keep track of (e.g. toilet paper). Refer to: How To: Configure Non-Inventory Items

Before You Start
This article assumes Suppliers and Stock Categories have been created.

How to Configure an Inventory Item
1. Go to Configuration → Inventory Items and click "Add Inventory Item".
2. Complete the fields and click "Save".
If this is your initial setup, you need to process a Supplier Invoice to load your stock on hand count and costings. Refer to: How To: Process a Supplier Invoice (Inventory Step 6)
How to Edit an Inventory Item
1. Go to Configuration → Inventory Items and click on the name of the Inventory Item.
2. Click "Edit Item", make changes and click "Save Item".
How to Delete an Inventory Item
Inventory Items cannot be deleted, they can only be made inactive.
1. Go to Configuration → Inventory Items and click on the name of the Inventory Item.
2. Click "Edit Item", untick the "Active" box and click "Save Item".
How to Post a Stock Adjustment on an Inventory Item
1. Go to Configuration → Inventory Items and click on the name of the Inventory Item.
2. Click "Post Stock Adjustment", make changes and click "Save Item".
Note: Each time stock is purchased, the best practice way to update stock levels is to Process a Supplier Invoice. This will update totals and costings.
