When you sign up for a Twilio account, you become the owner of your organization. Twilio owners can complete various administrative tasks, like create projects, invite other Twilio users, assign roles to those users, and select basic account settings. Follow these steps to complete your account setup. For more information, you can see this Twilio article.
- In your Twilio account, go to Manage Accounts.
- Enable two-factor authentication.
- Go to User Settings.
- Enter the verification code from the email you received, then click Verify.
- Click Set up 2FA.
- Enter the phone number you want to use to verify your account, then click Send code via SMS.
- Store your emergency recovery code somewhere safe.
Important: Your recovery code allows you to log in if you lose access to your phone. Store it securely, such as in a password manager.
- Click Finish.
- Invite users with different roles and permissions to your account.
- Go to Twilio Admin > Accounts.
- Click the name of the account you’re managing.
- Click the Users tab.
- Click Invite User.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
- Select their role:
- Administrator – Can manage the account, including adding more users.
- Billing Manager – Can access billing-related pages only.
- Developer – Can access development resources, such as phone numbers and API credentials, but cannot manage the account.
- Support – Can access logs and usage only.
Note: You can assign more than one role. If you select Administrator, Twilio automatically clears any other selected roles because Administrator includes all permissions.
- Click Submit.
- Determine which users should receive alerts.
- Go to Notification Preferences.
- Select a role from the Add Role drop-down list for the relevant notification.
- Review the payment process and update billing information if needed.
- Go to Billing > Payment Settings.
- Click Add a payment method, then enter your payment information.
- For credit card payments, enter your card details on the Credit Card tab, then click Add card.
- For PayPal payments, click the PayPal tab, link your PayPal account, then click Add PayPal.
